Ever seen some people creating cool patterns on their Rubik’s cube? Ever wondered how they are made? Here I got some interesting patterns that are easy to learn.
NOTE: There are shorter algorithms available for most patterns, I have mentioned only those that are easy to remember but longer.
The SuperFlip is the most scrambled state of the cube. Computers take the greatest numbers of moves (20 steps) to solve the super flip. In Super Flip, all the pieces are in the right place, but all the edges are flipped.

The cube in a cube is my favorite pattern.

I’ll be adding more patterns soon…

3x3x3. I’ve been trying to get a ‘random’ pattern under the following conditions:
On each face..
1) No two of the same color touch laterally (but may touch diagonally).
2) There are no more than two of the same color (on a face).
I always get at least one face that has three of the same color; cannot get it down to two. Maybe it’s not possible? There are six colors and nine squares to a face. Since 12 is more than nine, it seems superficially that you could do it.

Hello Truman! 🙂
I am very very sorry for replying so late. I hope you don’t mind.
I have an algorithm that can fulfill your first condition (chances are, you already know it):
M2E2S2 RFLD
I haven’t looked for an algorithm that can satisfy your second condition. But first I think it is better to test if it is possible to achieve that state. Because I’m not sure if it’s possible. We can do that by simply moving the cube until we get that state. If we do, it’s possible. I’ll try to do that and see if it is possible and I’ll report back to you.

Hi Daniel
I spent four weeks in Vietnam, then drove from California to Kansas, so I’m quite worn out. Anyway, I found this algorithm in which each side has no more than two colors repeated. Also the colors are opposite; that is one face will have white and yellow, and red and orange, for example.
Here’s the algorithm (a 6-cycle):
B2 U2 R2 D’ B2 F2 L2 R2 U R2
F D’ U’ L’ R B’ F’ L2 R2 U’
Thanks

Was there Rubik’s Cube with different color patterns to start with. I got a white blue edge piece. And the white and blue face are opposite of each other.

On my cube, the opposing faces are
White-Yellow
Green-Blue
Red-Orange
